Town & Country School,
a 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 1961 as a Kindergarten through eighth grade program by child psychologist, Dr. Lillian Whitmore and a group of parents of children with learning disabilities.
Forty-nine years later, T&C continues to be Oklahomas only accredited,
non-public, full day program specifically designed to meet the needs of
students in grades 1-12 who have been diagnosed with learning
disabilities, attention disorders and Asperger's Syndrome. The school is located on a 10-acre, wooded lot that houses the entire campus complete with administrative buildings, a large gymnasium, playground equipment, and separate buildings for both Upper and Lower School.

In 1984, Town & Country broadened the scope of its program and began serving both students with Learning Disabilities as well as those diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
In 2008, T&C again broadened the scope of its program to
include students diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.
Parent interest and a need in the commjnity allowed T&C to
expand its program to include high school students beginning in
1995. Adding one grade a year, T&C graduated its first
class of seniors in 2000. Enrollment for 2009-2010 was 131
with a graduating class of 12.
The benefits the Tulsa community receives from this unique program go far beyond the walls of the school campus.
In 1986, a supplemental after-school program was established to provide tutoring,
OT, and speech/language therapy. These programs are available to all Tulsa area students, both public and private, who struggle with learning. Parents, educators, physicians, psychologists, therapists, and other professionals who are concerned with the needs of this population look to Town & Country as a valuable resource for information,
training and support
Underlying Town & Country Schools approach to education is a recognition of the worth of each student as an individual. Therefore, we believe that every child is entitled to an individualized education that promotes social and academic achievements while developing responsibility, values and respect for self and others. We honor and encourage the unique talents of each child by providing interactive instruction that stimulates curiosity, discovery and a love for learning. |
