Town & Country School's annual campaign is the main funding source for donations to the general operating budget. Gifts to the annual campaign benefit all students and their families and provide supplemental funding to "bridge the gap" between tuition and actual costs to educate a child with learning differences, which is approximately $4,000 per student.
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life." Proverbs 13:12
The Whitmore Educational Society was established in honor and memory of Dr. Lillian Whitmore, child psychologist and founder of Town & Country School. Understanding the needs of students with learning differences, it was Dr. Whitmore's dream to create a unique learning environment for this special population. Dr. Whitmore understood that all students, even students with learning disabilities, could succeed when placed in a climate that fostered and built upon each student's strengths and successes. In 1961, her dream became a reality when she founded T&C.
Members of the Whitmore Educational Society contribute $2,500 or more each year to the school's annual campaign. These contributions provide financial assistance for our families as well as supplemental funding to cover the portion of our general operating budget that is not met by tuition revenues. As a member of this special group, you become a "tree of life" for the students at Town & Country School. When given the right opportunities, students who were once frustrated, become successful young men and women full of dreams of their own. Gifts from Whitmore Educational Society members allow the school to continue its outstanding programs, which include the individualized curriculum from kindergarten through twelfth grade; organizational, social, and life skills training; speech and language therapy; tutorial
services and workshops for professionals and parents.
Donations in honor or memory of others are usually designated for the annual campaign and support the school's
operating budget. T&C will notify the individual or family of your kind gesture and also provide you with a gift acknowledgement. Please provide the name or names of those you wish to honor as well as an address to notify the recipient.
Many companies have matching gift programs to encourage their employees to support charitable organizations. If your company offers this benefit, please include the appropriate form provided by the company with your contribution. The Development Office will return the completed form to your company.
Obtaining supplemental funding to cover the portion of our general operating budget that is not met by tuition revenues continues to be Town & Country's single greatest need. However, there are usually unbudgeted capital improvement projects and programs to enhance the school's multidisciplinary approach to educating a student with learning disabilities that require special funding. The Development Office maintains a list of special projects.
Donors who make a contribution of any amount will be recognized in the school's annual report. All information related to your donation is kept confidential until T&C is given permission by you to announce it. T&C accepts cash, checks, VISA, and MasterCard.
